An associate producer and award-winning journalist who also performs music, comedy and voice-overs, Chris Serico would gladly give it all up to host game shows.

As a producer for Metromix — an Internet guide to regional nightlife and entertainment — he writes, edits and evaluates editorial content; brainstorms, develops and appears at major events geared toward adults 21 to 34; and covers entertainment for The Journal News and its blogs.

For Gannett Newspapers,
he has written almost 1,500 articles, which have earned distinction from the New York Press Association and 12 Gannett Mighty Pen Awards. He has contributed hundreds of posts to The Journal News’ entertainment blogs — the celebrity-centric Suburbarazzi and the television-themed Remote Access — and provided entertainment analysis on RNN-TV's "NewsCenter Now."

In addition to providing weekly video podcast commentary about "30 Rock" and "The Office" for Remote Access, Serico frequently reports on "American Idol," "Chuck," "Top Chef" and awards shows. He has also interviewed an eclectic range of celebrities, including actors Chevy Chase and Charles Grodin,
stand-up comedians Nick Di Paolo and Kevin Meaney, Yankees manager Joe Girardi, fashion icon Isaac Mizrahi, talk-show host Montel Williams, Beach Boys founder Mike Love, "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, "Idol" finalists Taylor Hicks and Kimberley Locke, Howard Stern sidekick Fred Norris, "Top Chef" winner Hung Huynh, the cast of MTV's "Human Giant," "The Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean, former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Bill Donaldson and “Baseball Tonight” analyst Buster Olney.

His contributions to The Journal News' entertainment blogs have allowed him to attend NBC's inaugural blogger convention and have been cited by Entertainment Weekly, Best Week Ever and Mediabistro.

His humor writing captured the attention of The New York Times, which profiled his own pop culture and general-interest blog, Varsity Basketweaving.
Comedy Central, Gawker, Best Week Ever, The Apiary, GorillaMask, Gothamist and Cracked are among the high-profile Web sites to reference Varsity Basketweaving. In March, he launched Headline Punchline, which features his own one-liners about headlines in mainstream media.

His flair for comedy and commentary also helped land him auditions to be a VJ and on-air panelist for FUSE, Cablevision's music video channel reaching 45 million people nationwide.

With Gannett, Serico also wrote a sports column called Intentional Grounding, designed to ignite debate through humor. He attracted an even larger audience with Encroachment, a humor column that infused sports with pop culture on the Buffalo Bills' official Web site.

A cum laude graduate of Boston College, Serico earned a 4.0 GPA in journalism as an English-Communication double major.

He is not particularly fond of pea soup.
